Monochrome Toes!

Hullo!
So in my last post I promised a monochrome nails post soon, I am yet to do my nails (hands) in the latest black and white trend but I've had my toes done for the last week.

(apologies to those who don't like feet)

I think stripes are the most simple nail art design, especially for the monochrome trend. when I do my finger nails I plan to be a bit more adventurous with different styles but for toes I think simple, subtle patterns are best!

To create this look I used my Rio Professional nail art pen and brush in the shades black and white, to create the stripes I used the brush doing one stripe at a time: a black stripe then a white one then black and so on. This method is slower than painting the whole nail white then adding black stripes but I think it looks tidier and also ensures the stripes are of a more similar width. I think alternating directions (one horizontal then one vertical) look more interesting than all the stripes being the same direction. After creating the stripes I went over all of my nails in a top coat to protect my design, prevent chipping and give my nails some shine; I used Rimmel London Finishing Touch Ultra Shine Top Coat (£4.49 from Superdrug).

This beautiful design is so simple and easy to do and is bang on trend with this years number 1 trend. And everybody knows that black and white go just as well with any colour as they do with each other!

I hope you enjoyed this post, my next posts will involve a monochrome look for hands so look out for that as well as many other ideas I have for posts.

Daisy Nails!

Hullo!
The summer has finally arrived and I am LOVING it!! :-D
And as the sun is out and the flowers are blooming I just had to put some on my nails! Inspired by the simple beauty and elegance of the summer flower that is the daisy, my new nails are so cute I could eat them! Eeek!

The green colour is the Avon Nailwear Pro in the shade 'Peppermint Leaf'. I created the flowers with my Rio professional nail art pen & brush (shade White), using a stroke method drawing lines I created the thin dainty daisy petals. Using Avon Nailwear Pro in the shade 'Sunshine' I just placed a dot in the centre to finish this beautiful design.

Lately I love to do nearly every nail different. I think having the thumb and ring finger as accent nails gives a cute bit of detail to otherwise plain nails but my last few designs has involved another accent nail. I've seen this new trend on a few pictures on Pinterest and think its so cute! I love adding a polka dot design to the middle finger to further break up plain nails. I used the white shade from my Avon French manicure set and then used a dotting tool to create the polka dots with peppermint leaf. I also enjoy adding glitter or stripes to this nail.

I think these nails are super cute and so so summery. I also did my mums nails so look out for my next post on them! I will also have a monochrome nail post coming soon which I'm super excited about!

My New Obsessions!

SUMMERS HERE!! WAHOO!!
Aaaannndd its gone again.
The crappy British 'summer' weather has left me down in the dumps and my mood needs brightening! So for the last couple of weeks I've been rocking a new (much brighter) make up look. This summer I'm really feeling bright lips. I've always usually gone for very neutral lips with clear gloss or maybe a candy pink now and then but right now my addiction is my new bright red 'Colour Pout Lasting Lip Stain' from Collection 2000 in the shade 'Tease' (£4.99 from Boots).

I am now obsessed with bright red lips! paired with flicked black eye-liner I think it gives a sophisticated but fun look. I love the colour the of the lip stain but when I purchased it I did so because of its claim of 'all day wear' and its claim to be 'easy to apply and lightweight'. As for ease of application, the lip stain isn't something you can just swipe on and be on your way, it takes quite a bit of precision but after applying a few times I got pretty used to it and it became easier. The lips stain is pretty lightweight in comparison to most lipsticks and lip glosses but tends to feel a tad sticky after application but sinks into the lips nicely so a big thumbs up for that! However, 'all day wear' is definitely a myth!! the colour wears off if you so much as have a sip of water! Fair enough, its pretty easy to top up as it only tends to wear off on the inner lips after eating or drinking. But, after around an hour I found the colour to loose its brightness! I much prefer my Rimmel London Kate Moss lipstick (£5.49 from Boots) in the shade 110...

The Kate Moss lipstick does wear off during the day through eating and drinking etc. which can be expected but I found my self re-applying the lip stain a lot more often.

My new summer nail obsession is a trend which has become rather popular lately, its the reverse French manicure! this simple, easy and quick design can transform plain nails and give a cute look in no time! This look can be used over any colour, bright, pastel, cold, warm, neon, I think it works with any. I chose to use it with my new pastel peachy nail polish from Avon. I used the Avon Color Trend Nail Enamel in the limited edition shade 'Sugared Peach (00828)' (£3).

I think this subtle, simple design makes plain nails pop and goes oh so well with bright summery lips whether you decide to go for peachy nails and red lips like me or opt for bright blue nails and pink lips, this combo is a winner with any colour this summer!

Now all we need is some brighter weather!!
